One guitar body is out for a UV Cured Poly finish one is getting a Tru-Oil finish and one a French Polish with Royal Lac Shellac and all 3 necks are getting a Tru-Oil Finish as well as the Celtic Harp getting a Shellac finish (not french Polish).. Whew..
Well that took a couple of do overs and a bit of cursing but finally go the finish on the Crossover Guitar done.. Used Royal Lac Post Catalyzed finish.. Works nice once I sorted out all my issues..
Now I need to finish the bridge, do the fret ends and glue on the bridge...
Working on the Archtop, the pore fill is done and now the finish coats can be applied.. Royal Lac hardened shellac. Not sure how many coats I'll apply will stop when it looks good.
The beauty of Royal ac is it is more durable than regular shellac and you can actually wet sand it to level the coats...
Work on the other tenor, the flat top Zircote & ancient spruce one is going well too.. the finish is polished up and the neck is back on ready for measuring and fitting the bridge.
Whew, it's taken a bit of time and way to much pore filling & sanding but I just put the first base coats of shellac on the parlour guitar.... Looking forward to seeing how this Royal Lac hardened shellac works out.
