Neck & Headstock Work

So I'm actually making progress on the crossover guitar..

The neck to body attachment is mostly done and the tuner slots are routed into the headstock.

This will be a completely removable neck so it has what can best be described in wood working terms as a floating tenon which is glued into a mortise in the neck and floats in a mortise in the body similar to a regular bolt on mortise & tenon neck. The reason for the floating tenon glued into the neck is to that propell nuts can be used and there is no possibility they will tear-out of neck end grain.

There will also eventually be a fingerboad support routed into the body.

Moving on with the Neck

Time to sort out the neck and it's attachment to the body. Remembering this will be a fully removable neck..

The neck is a 5 piece one of Peruvian Walnut & Maple..

The Neck with the scarf joint & stacked heel. All still oversized

Top View -- slot is for carbon fiber reinforcement

I'll explain more about this when it is finished but basically a floating tenon neck joint

Attaching the Neck

Well this another one of the high stress cutting into a perfectly good guitar body moments.. But once doe the whole thing looks like a guitar - risk vs reward.. I'm still not 100% happy with the jig I have for this so it my well be on the list to make a new one.. The process however worked out fine and it now looks like a guitar.
